Advancing News Diversity in Asia

The ANDA project aims to define diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) from an Asia perspective, raise awareness about DEI and support efforts to improve diversity and representation in newsrooms and coverage throughout Asia.

Launched in 2021, with the support of Meta and media partners across the Asia Pacific region, ANDA initially launched in seven markets:
Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.

The ANDA project is articulated around 3 pillars:

RESEARCH

Understanding diversity in news from an Asian perspective

ADVOCACY

Raising awareness about DEI in Asia’s newsrooms

SOLUTIONS

Providing resources to support meaningful DEI projects in Asia’s newsrooms

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) has been advocating for diversity and the fair representation of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the US for over 40 years. AAJA’s Asia chapter gathers media professionals who are passionate and committed to advancing gender balance, equity, diversity and inclusion in the region where they live and work.
